Frequently asked questions
Do the children play outside all year round?
We believe in outside play all year round and ensure that both children and teachers are dressed appropriately to ensure we can enjoy jumping in puddles and exploring the changing seasons, while still keeping warm and dry.
When are you closed?
We are closed on Statutory holidays and 2 weeks over Christmas/New Year. Our annual fees are set with scheduled closure days already taken into account, so fees remain the same during these times.
What happens if my child gets sick?
It's important to have a plan for when your child is sick, as you will be asked to keep them away from the childcare until they are well again. You will need to call us to let us know your child will be absent and let us know if they have an infectious disease. Any absent days are still paid for in full.
Do you offer meals?
At this time, families are asked to provide their child’s lunch and two snacks each day. We understand that providing meals can significantly ease the daily load for families, and it is something we would love to incorporate in the future as our program continues to grow and evolve.
Do you offer part time spots?
We prioritize full-time enrollment to ensure consistency within the program and for better group dynamics. However, part-time placements may be considered when two complementary part-time schedules can share one full-time space.
How far in advance should I enrol my child?
We would encourage you to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Spaces are worked out based on start dates, waitlists and availability in the centre. You do not need to commit completely until the space is offered to you, so please fill in the waitlist form on the Enrollment page.
What are your teacher to child ratios?
Our ratios follow British Columbia childcare licensing requirements. Wildernest maintains a ratio of at least 1 educator to 8 children, with at least three educators when operating at full capacity (up to 25 children).
Do you accept child care subsidies?
Yes. Wildernest participates in British Columbia´s Child Care Funding Program and families may also apply for the Affordable Child Care Benefit, if eligible. We are happy to provide documentation or guidance to support families through the application process.
Outdoor focused learning for children aged 2.5-5 years.
